This project is more than just a new, fun attraction for Pokémon lovers. It is part of an ongoing effort to support the recovery of the Noto Peninsula following the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. The new airport was specifically created to support tourism on the Noto Peninsula. By partnering with The Pokémon Company, Ishikawa Prefecture hopes to encourage more travelers to discover the region’s stunning coastline, local businesses, and traditional culture. The airport serves both as a unique travel destination and a symbol of support for the area’s recovery.

Visitors will be greeted with a giant Pikachu balloon displayed inside the terminal, welcoming travelers as they arrive. Another eye-catching feature that is offered is all 111 Flying-type Pokémon displayed in decorations, allowing fans to search for their favorite Flying-type Pokémon. Additionally, attractions include themed monuments featuring Pikachu, Plusle, and Minun, special photo spots, and interactive experiences that visitors can access while exploring and having fun!

The special menu includes themed pancakes and drinks that are easily available to travelers for a fun snack before or after their flight. Guests will also be able to buy exclusive souvenirs such as keychains, luggage tags, t-shirts, and other collectibles that can only be found at the airport. Located along the Sea of Japan coast, the region is known for its breathtaking natural scenery, cultural heritage, and fresh seafood. It’s honestly an absolute must for nature lovers and foodies alike.
But don’t think that means that your experience is finished with the airport, Pokéfans! Guests can continue the adventure throughout the Noto Peninsula thanks to a new Pokémon-themed sightseeing bus. The route will connect travelers to locations such as the Wakura Pokémon Footbath in Wakura Onsen and the “Sylveon with LOVE” monument in Suzu City. It’s a fun way for enthusiasts to continue their journey while discovering more of what this beautiful region has to offer.

Beyond Noto, Ishikawa Prefecture has many popular destinations for those who wish to travel further through this side of Japan. In fact, Ishikawa is often considered a cultural treasure of Japan, with Kanazawa serving as one of its most popular destinations. The city is known for its well-preserved samurai and geisha districts, traditional tea houses, and the beautiful Kenrokuen Garden. Whether you’re visiting just for the Pokémon or planning a longer trip through the region, Ishikawa offers culture, history, and natural beauty that is hard to find anywhere else!
