Osaka is known for its nightlife and busy streets. With Dotonbori, the Glico running man, and even Universal Studios stealing the spotlight, it can be easy to miss the quieter spots of this vast city. But what about visitors looking for a slower pace of life who still want to explore the area? Whether you’re looking for a more relaxed itinerary or need some recovery time after enjoying Japan’s drinking culture, let me introduce you to 5 of the best coffee spots in Osaka.

With almost a century of experience, Marufuku is sure to take care of all your coffee needs. Consistently praised for it’s atmosphere, the coffee isn’t the only thing that draws people to Marufuku, and this location in particular has the bonus of only being a short walk away from Dotonbori making it the perfect place to get some caffeine in you after a long night of sampling delicious street food, or to continue your food adventure by having some souffle pancakes alongside your freshly brewed morning coffee.

Coffee and wine together might sound a little strange until you take into account Takamura’s motto – “select coffee like selecting wine.” Their mission is to get people to take choosing coffee as seriously as they take wine pairing, and it shows. After winning 1st place in the Japan Aeropress Competition in 2018 and switching to purchasing beans directly from farmers in 2024, their extensive knowledge makes Takamura an amazing spot for everything from normal drip coffee to espresso tonic.

So if you have looked into Osaka coffee shops at all, you have no doubt come across one of the multiple videos, blog posts, or Reddit threads talking about Glitch Coffee, and I’m here to say, they are all right about how good this place is! Opening for business in 2015, and only growing in popularity since, it’s clear the staff at Glitch care about their coffee, and you can even find a brew guide on their website if you want to see more about their process or buy some beans to try for yourself at home.

Although it’s smaller than other places on this list, Wakamono is the perfect location to grab some classic drip coffee whilst in Osaka. Whilst it may not have a full cafe to sit down in, there’s a certain charm to the care and attention the team here puts into each transaction, making this adorable hole-in-the-wall coffee stand the perfect place to grab something to-go so you can get back to exploring the city.
