Today we’re happy to introduce you to a brand-new, dynamic hotel that recently opened in Tokyo, called “Aloft Tokyo Ginza”. Let’s ask a few questions to Hiro Kosugi, the General Manager of the hotel
Thank you for your time today, we are glad to introduce the Aloft Hotel on our blog! First of all, can you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit more about your hotel?
Thank you for the introduction. My name is Hiro, I’m General Manager of this brand new hotel in Ginza, newly opened on October 1, 2020. Aloft is one of the hotel brands under the Marriot International umbrella. Aloft positions itself as the next generation of hotels, using technology & design to enhance experiences and move at the pace of our guests.
Aloft Tokyo Ginza is the very first Aloft hotel in Japan. The facility is located at just a few minutes’ walk from the subway Ginza station, which makes it suitable for both business and leisure.
We had the chance to come and visit the hotel a few days recently and it’s amazing! We enjoyed the great art and design, the beautiful rooms, and the other lovely areas of the hotel. Can you please tell us more about the concept you have created?
I am glad that you liked the place! We take pride in the space design of Aloft Tokyo Ginza, integrating the international and local culture with an “iki” – chic – spirit. Through out our property, a guest will find a well-balanced mix of old-school aesthetics and industrial design. Old meeting new, east meeting west – interactions with others always trigger a new thought. We hope our guests will enjoy the inspiring encounters and excitement in their travels as well.
The hotel is also filled with radiant and iconic works by emerging artists; Wall art, sculptures, digital media art – the art comes in various formats, but all contributes to the ambience of Aloft Tokyo Ginza.
How many rooms do you have and what kind of services does your hotel offer to travelers from over the world?
We have 205 guest rooms, including 4 suites. On the ground floor, we have the lobby lounge Re:MIX (with a Grab & Go shop Re:Fuel) and the bar lounge W XYZ Bar. On the second floor, our all day dining “The WAREHOUSE” welcomes the guest, and there is also a 24 hours fitness gym Re:Charge for our hotel guests. Our sassy rooftop bar “Roof Dogs” is a rare spot in this area to enjoy sparkling wine and hotdogs in fresh open air with great views of the city lights of Ginza.
Foreign travelers are often surprised to see there aren’t so many king-size beds in Japan. Do you offer king-size beds at Aloft?
Certainly! We have 112 rooms with king-size beds. Namely, the room categories Aloft King, Savvy King and Aloft Suites are equipped with king-size beds. In addition to the bedding, all of our guest rooms have double shades, one of which is a blackout shade, which assures the undisturbed sleep.
In your opinion, what kind of travelers would LOVE Aloft hotels?
I think Aloft would be especially preferred by global travelers, those who love open spaces, open thinking and open expression. We see many of our customers as self-expressers; forward-thinking, confidently social tech enthusiasts who live both online and off. We have the connectivity to keep up with them, and the exact environment for vibrant social scenes.
The restaurant also caught our attention! The featured art here was amazing. What kind of food do you offer?
Our all-day dining “The WAREHOUSE” welcomes guests with quality foods but in a casual and relaxed setting. Our Chef’s specialty is creative, fusion-like dishes – the menu presentation is close to Western/French style, but once guests take a bite, they would be surprised to sense a twist of Japanese elements.
In addition to the restaurant, Aloft also entertains our guests at a bar lounge “W XYZ Bar” located on the ground floor, and an open-air rooftop bar, “Roof Dogs.” All three venues welcome not only hotel guests but also walk-in customers.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Along with Art & Design, another element Aloft focuses on is music.
Besides nicely curated music just outside of Top 40 being played within the hotel as BGM, Aloft hosts “Live@Aloft” music events once a month at W XYZ Bar. The live events are organized at Aloft hotels all over the world. We invite up-and-coming artists to play their music to the bar patrons. For instance, up until seven years ago, Ed Sheeran used to appear at Liv@Aloft in the US. We have been talking with music producers in search for raw talent who may become big like Ed in the future.
Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook as we will make announcements on upcoming events at Aloft Tokyo Ginza. Thank you!
