Osaka Ukiyo-e Museum: Hokusai & Hiroshige Exhibition

Classic Japanese art takes center stage at the Osaka Ukiyo-e Museum. A special exhibition brings together masterpieces by two all-time greats: Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. These ukiyo-e artists enjoy immense popularity not only in Japan but around the world. This is a rare chance to see their famous woodblock prints in one place.

Ukiyo-e spread as popular culture in the eighteenth century (current Tokyo), expressing the fashion and topics of the time. The museum exhibits works by the two great masters of ukiyo-e; Hokusai and Hiroshige, from the Edo period. These Artists drew with elaborate ideas, and many of the sculptors and print masters who worked in the Edo period remain unknown today. Please enjoy this present from the Edo period that they created.

You can see Hokusai’s iconic “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” from the series Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji, which is on permanent exhibition. Hiroshige’s beautiful landscapes are also featured. The details in these old prints are amazing, and you can borrow a magnifying glass for free to look closer at the fine lines and colors.

Please note that the museum doesn’t accept the Osaka Amazing Pass. It’s a perfect stop for art lovers, history fans, or anyone curious about Japan’s cultural treasures. The exhibition runs for several months, so there is plenty of time to visit and enjoy these timeless works.

Umeda Hankyu Beer Garden: A Traveling Rooftop Beer Garden

Escape the city bustle and head up to the rooftop! This summer and autumn, the rooftop plaza of Hankyu Umeda Main Store transforms into a fun “traveling” beer garden. From May through October, you can enjoy great food, cold drinks, and a vacation vibe right in the heart of Osaka.

The theme is “travel”, and it changes every few weeks! You can taste flavors from Asia, America, Mexico, and Europe with different food specials. With about 30 all-you-can-eat items, including salads, curry, pizza, and shaved ice, there’s something for everyone. You also get a special ticket to choose one treat: a juicy chicken leg, crispy popcorn shrimp, or creamy soft-serve ice cream. Don’t forget the drinks! A huge selection of 120 kinds is all-you-can-drink, including many non-alcoholic and low-alcohol options.

It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends after work or on a holiday. The view, the food, and the fun themes make every visit feel like a mini vacation. Come once, come twice; there’s always a new taste to try!

Osaka Metcha Happy Festival

The Osaka Metcha Happy Dance Festival is back for its 27th year! This fun-filled holiday event is all about sharing joy through dance. Picture this: dancers in bright, fun costumes filling the stage with energy. From traditional steps to modern moves, the variety is amazing. The main show happens at the famous Osaka-jo Hall. The crowd cheers, the music plays, and the dancers give it their all. It’s a happy, exciting party you won’t forget.

You can also see free performances at two other spots: Twin 21 and Lovely Town Furukawabashi. So the celebration spreads all over the city! If you want the full experience, grab a ticket to the Osaka-jo Hall show for just ¥1,500. The other venues are completely free. Come and see why this festival is called “Mecha Happy,” you’ll leave with a big smile!

Candlelight Concert: A Tribute to Joe Hisaichi

This Candlelight concert in Osaka pays tribute to the legendary composer Joe Hisaishi, renowned for his iconic film scores for Studio Ghibli, including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Howl’s Moving Castle. The performance features a live string quartet playing selections from his most beloved works, all within the intimate and atmospheric setting of the historic Otsuki Nogakudo theater, illuminated by the gentle glow of hundreds of candles. The concert lasts about 65 minutes and offers a calm, emotionally resonant experience that brings Hisaishi’s cinematic music to life.

It is part of the popular Candlelight concert series and is open to audiences aged 8 and up (under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone, and doors open 30 minutes prior to the start time, with late entry not permitted. Please note that there is no parking at the venue, so using public transportation is recommended.

Vintage Market

Step into a world of treasure hunting! The Vintage Market, held at the Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, is Kansai’s biggest flea market for antiques, vintage goods, and old treasures. Yakiimo Fes Osaka
