Asakusa Kokono Club Hotel: a creative and energetic accommodation in Asakusa

We are always looking for interesting, welcoming, and unique accommodations in the best locations for our guests and visitors to Japan. We were so excited to discover the Asakusa Kokono Club Hotel. This stylish and modern concept hotel is in the heart of Asakusa along a historic shopping arcade “Shotengai,” and the small details and staff attitude make this an amazing place to stay.

This hotel concept was the brainchild of the folks that designed the ACE HOTEL in Portland in the USA. But, the blend of Japanese art and local vibes makes this a wonderful mix of both Japan and the young energy of some of the newest hotels springing up in America and around the world.

There are a wide variety of room types at all price ranges. In fact, each of the 33 rooms is unique–no two are alike. We LOVED the junior suite with its stunning terrace and luxurious bathroom. Sustainable bamboo amenities and wonderful scented soap and shampoos were additional special elements that made our stay so relaxing.

Many of the rooms in the Kokono club feature private terraces and amazing views. The cafe and bar are lovely and the food is delish. There’s 24-hour front desk support and luggage storage for guests if you want to explore before check-in time or after check-out!

 

Boasting a restaurant, free bike rental, and free WiFi, Asakusa Kokono Club Hotel is just 70m from Edo Taito Traditional Crafts Center and a stone’s throw from the iconic Sensoji Shrine, one of the most popular places for both Japanese and International visitors to Tokyo. Staying here, you are truly right in the center of the action. This area has amazing dining, entertainment, history, and local events. Biking is a great way to get around this downtown neighborhood so we really recommend trying out their stylish bikes!

The hotel used local vendors, artisans, and craftspeople to source everything. So many of the interior decorations and textiles and many of those artistic items are for sale, in case you’re interested in taking part of your stay home with you. In fact, we fell in LOVE with the pajamas which were available in foreign-friendly sizes, and purchased and brought a pair home as a special gift. So soft!

Of course, we are obsessed with food and beverage here at Arigato Travel. The Kokono Club hotel has a great bar/restaurant/cafe. This space is stylish and welcoming to hotel guests and neighborhood residents alike. Guests at the hotel can enjoy an American or an Asian-style breakfast. We tried the American Style, and the portion was really big and everything was super yummy. Evening drinks from the bar were great too! 

The Hotel has a theater/performance space upstairs where guests and locals can enjoy music, movies, and drama depending on the season. The Asakusa Kyugeki Theater is truly a unique part of a stay at this charming and modern hotel. 

There are so many reasons to base your Tokyo adventures from this modern, fun, and friendly hotel in Asakusa. The location is beyond fabulous, rooms, food, and design are all spot on!
